Hi, I'm Dimitri - aka Mitt.
Perth-based IT student, console modder, and tinkerer. This is where I document what I'm building, breaking, and learning.
Where it started.
I grew up fascinated by how things worked. In 2015, I received my first laptop, which sparked my interest for technology. I began learning everything I could about software and hardware, fixing, upgrading, and breaking things just to put them back together.
In June 2024, I began to seriously focus on console modding. Internal storage upgrades, better screens on handhelds, custom BIOS flashes, and the small details that make old hardware still feel relevant today.
Why this site exists.
MittsMods is a personal log and portfolio. I'm not trying to write perfect guides or make recommendations, just share what I'm doing in a way that might help someone out. If one of my posts answers a question, saves some research, or gives you an idea, I'd consider that a win.
Console Mods
Shell swaps, new/upgraded screens, batteries and power, storage, cooling, and custom firmware.
Servers & Homelab
Tiny PCs and low-power nodes running media backups, virtual machines, remote storage, ad-blockers, and other services that make life easier.
Preservation
Documenting the process and configurations so original experiences can be enjoyed today.
Code & Tools
Small scripts, config files, programs, and utilities that tie projects together or speed up repetitive work.
How I like to build.
I prefer a clean, reversible change where possible. If a future owner or myself want it back to stock, the mod should be easy to undo.
Photos, notes, and a parts list throughout the build. If I hit a weird issue, I make sure to note it so no one needs to rediscover it.
I care about how practical the mods are day-to-day, and whether the cost and time investment is actually worth it.
